Emmanuel Christian School Home School Division

Recognizing that families at times feel an individualized learning program at home is in the best interest of their children, Emmanuel Christian School is equipped to encourage and assist them through our home school umbrella. The home school umbrella program (HOME) is for families who are members in faithful attendance of Emmanuel Baptist Temple, and families who are active members of other fundamental, Bible-Believing churches.

Our goal is to assist families but not to be intrusive. We require book reports from younger students, research papers and final exams from high school students. Parents will maintain daily lesson plans and weekly grades. The basic fee per family is only $300.00 per year ($25.00 per month).

Services of the ECS HOME program included with the basic cost of registration:

• Enrollment as a student in Emmanuel Christian School (ECS will be a candidate for accreditation from MACAA in 2011)
• Academic oversight (home conferences held twice a year by the principal of ECS or his assistant)
• Weekly Chapel program with a revival emphasis
• Assistance with curriculum choices
• Transcripts for college issued by ECS
• Membership in Maryland Association of Christian Schools
• ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)

Services provided by the HOME program at additional costs:

• High school diplomas presented in a traditional graduation ceremony with students graduating from Emmanuel Christian School
• Standardized testing (Stanford Achievement Test K-11)
• School Pictures
• Field Trips for educational purposes
• Attendance at annual college fair
• Participation in college trips to Christian colleges
• PSAT testing to determine National Merit Scholarship winners (given during junior year)
• PLAN testing (given during sophomore year)
• Senior portraits
• Senior trips to the WILDS Christian Camp in North Carolina
• Competition in Maryland Association of Christian Schools’ Fine Arts Festival (grades 1-12)
• Team sports for middle and high school students (drafting priority given to full-time ECS students)
• Eligible for Maryland Association of Christian Schools’ Honor Society
• Academic classes available at extra cost for grades 7-12 (as availability allows)
• Other classes available for all grades like physical education, choir, band, or art (as availability allows)

Please note: Both students and their families must abide by all rules of dress and conduct while on school property.
